Ali Mehedi is not just your average comedian—he’s the funniest Bangladeshi-Canadian stand-up comedian in New York City who is also allergic to fabric softener. Starting his journey from a small village in Bangladesh, Ali’s life has been a blend of struggle, resilience, and laughter. After moving to Canada to pursue his dream of working in IT, he found his true calling in stand-up comedy. A graduate of Saint Mary’s University and a former IBM Canada employee, Ali made the bold switch to comedy after discovering his love for making people laugh.
Ali is a regular performer at popular comedy clubs like Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club in NYC. He’s also the mastermind behind ‘Laughing Lassi,’ the most popular South Asian stand-up comedy show in New York, running every last Friday of the month.
His accolades include being a finalist in the World Series of Comedy (2019 & 2022), a finalist in the NYC Comedy Mob Competition (2021), and a semifinalist in the StandUp NBC Competition (2018). Ali has also performed at major festivals like the New York Comedy Festival, Halifax Comedy Fest, Boston Comedy Festival, and the Asian Comedy Fest NYC.
